Monroe

Located in southern Middlesex County, Monroe is part of the outer ring suburbs of the New York metropolitan area. The neighborhood is friendly and diverse with a variety of cultures and backgrounds. For decades, it was a large farming community. Today, the area is growing and has more of a suburban feel.

Recreation

You’ll find a variety of activities to enjoy at Thompson Park, which spans over 600 acres and is home to Manalapan Lake, a 30 acre lake and favorite fishing spot for locals. Other recreational opportunities on the lake include canoeing, kayaking, or small boats powered by electric motors. The 2.5 acre dog park is popular for residents with four legged companions. Be sure to check out the park’s animal haven to view a variety of farm animals as well as exotic animals. There are also plenty of athletic fields, courts, playgrounds, trails, and picnic areas to explore.

Shopping & Dining

The Concordia Shopping Center has served the community for over 20 years and is anchored by a grocery store. Gables Plaza features several shops, services, and restaurants. Residents enjoy a variety of great restaurants in and around Monroe. There’s something to suit everyone’s taste including Chinese, Italian, Mexican, American, and Greek cuisines. It’s also easy to get to shopping and dining options in the surrounding communities.
