Toms River

Toms River is the county seat for Ocean County and the community features a variety of suburban neighborhoods. The town is small and friendly with lots of parks and beautiful ocean views. Many families, young professionals, and retirees are proud to call Toms River home.

Recreation

Residents, boaters, and summer vacationers alike enjoy easy access to the river, bay, and ocean. Ortley Beach, also known as Dover Beaches South, is a popular beach for summer tourists although it is less than a square mile in area. The Cattus Island County Park spans over 500 acres and features 7 miles of trails and a butterfly garden. The park is home to the newly renovated Cooper Environmental Center. Downtown, you’ll find Riverfront Landing County Park boasting a beautiful and tranquil environment overlooking the river. There’s also Shelter Cove Park, which offers tennis courts, soccer fields, and nature trails.

Shopping & Dining

Downtown Toms River is diverse and dynamic. From river boat dining, riverfront concerts, and street festivals to local museums and galleries, you’ll find plenty to experience. The downtown area also has a variety of shops and the award winning Ocean County Library which hosts a variety of activities. Ocean County Mall is the only indoor shopping mall in the area. Shoppers enjoy browsing 100 specialty stores and a variety of dining options. The mall is accessible from Exit 82 of the Garden State Parkway via Route 37 East.

Schools

Toms River Regional School District is recognized by the New Jersey Department of Education as a high performing school district. It includes 12 elementary schools, three intermediate schools, and three high schools.
